Feeding your large family can be a big expense, but it doesn’t have to be. Some easy tricks can help you stretch your dollar, stretch your food pantry, and feed your family well.

Here are 10 super filling cheap breakfasts to feed your large family this morning:

1.) Cereal

Ok, ok. Cereal might sound pretty basic but it’s a cheap, healthy meal that you can add kinds of stuff too to make filling. My favorites: Cheerios, Kix, Raisin Bran, and Life. Here are some yummy toppers that I add to my bowl of cereal:

  • Fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries, bananas
  • Chopped nuts like walnuts or slivered almonds
  • Flax meal
  • Raisins or other dried fruit

Cereal is super quick to whip up and kids can make their own bowl themself!

2.) Eggs + Toast

Somthing so simple and so tasty. Make your eggs any way you like: scrambled, over easy, hard boiled, etc. I do a quick scrambled egg with lightly toasted whole wheat or whole grain toast and make it an open faced sandwich with a handful of fresh fruit on the side or juice. So good!

3.) Hot cereal

Oatmeal, cream of wheat, grits, or other hot cereal for breakfast is a great cheap meal. It’s just as easy as cold cereal but way more satisfying, I think.

Nothing fills me up more than a bowl of oatmeal. Top it with fresh or dried fruits, nuts, or some brown sugar and cinnamon. I always get big bins of oatmeal from warehouse stores like Costco. It is a huge savings and lasts for months. Really good value for the money.

4.) Pancakes

Pancakes seem like one of those special occasion breakfasts. They were in my household growing up but if you buy mix in bulk, other ingredients are cheap enough (like eggs and milk) to make it an affordable breakfast all the time.

Make big batches and freeze leftovers. Top with fresh fruit, whip cream, maple syrup, or eat it dry with milk or juice, like my son loves it.

You can get really creative with it too and add pantry staples to the batter to make it different: sugar and cinnamon, chocolate chips, fresh fruit, flax meal, peanut butter, etc.

5.) French toast

French toast is so easy. All you need is bread, milk, and eggs. Easy!

6.) Fruit and yogurt

One of my favorite work breakfasts when I used to work in the corporate world. An apple and vanilla yogurt was my staple for years. It’s filling and really nutritious.

7.) Fruit and cottage cheese

Another favorite. Two words..pineapple and cottage cheese! Have you tried it? It’s soooo good and cheap. I just get canned pineapple rings in 100% juice and regular cottage cheese. Put the two side by side in a bowl and munch away. It feels like such a treat!

8.) Bagel and cream cheese

Who loves their bagels? There are so many interesting new brands today OR you can make them homemade. Here’s a recipe I love!

Now, this may not get an award for fast breakfasts if you make it homemade but anything homemade is cheaper than the store-bought version so you’ll get major brownie points for your budget!

9.) Toast

This isn’t just plain toast with butter. Get creative! Avocado toast, sweet potato toast, toast with nut butter or pb n’ j toast, yum! So many possibilities. I eat this with a side of fruit or juice and it’s a total meal that keeps me full for hours.

10.) Fruit
