- A new study used three methods to answer whether women found jewellery attractive on men: a Tinder experiment and a TikTok poll and a YouGov survey:
- Tinder experiment:Wearing jewellery on dating apps results in 73% more matches for men
- TikTok poll: an average of60% of people in the UK prefer men with jewellery
- YouGov survey:only 9% of women consider jewellery on men a turn-off
Well, after three different tests, we have our answer – wearing jewellery is more likely to score you some romance than without!

The Tinder Experiment
CRAFTD launched an undercover experiment on Tinder with hopeful romantic Daniel who tested would-be matches to see if they preferred him with or without jewellery.
The 28-year-old from Crewe set up his profile with one key difference; one week he had pictures of him on his profile without jewellery and the next week he wore CRAFTD jewellery.
Daniel swiped right on 50 profiles a day for a 14 day period; 7 days with a profile picture showing no jewellery and 7 days with a profile picture wearing jewellery
The results came in andDaniel’s Tinder profile saw 133 matches for wearing jewellery compared to 77 without. But that’s not all, the jewellery also managed to bag him a sneaky date on top of that!
Daniel, delighted with his newfound matches, said:
“I’ve had loads of comments on it, and I wasn’t sure how much response I’d get but I’ve had loads! I got quite a few matches without wearing any jewellery, but my pictures with it on definitely saw more matches – on one day I got 35 matches, which was way bigger than any of the days where I wasn’t wearing any!”
The TikTok Poll
On social media, a TikTok poll viewed by nearly 44,000 people in 9 UK cities also revealed that jewellery wearing is a hit, with Leeds topping the list as jewellery wearing capital of the UK with 68% of respondents preferring jewellery ON rather than OFF.
It’s not just Leeds, though, an average of 60% across the 9 cities showed they preferred the jewellery on.
Location | ON Votes (%) | OFF Votes (%) |
Leeds | 68% | 32% |
Cardiff | 66% | 34% |
Liverpool | 64% | 36% |
Bristol | 60% | 40% |
Manchester | 60% | 40% |
Birmingham | 58% | 42% |
Glasgow | 56% | 44% |
London | 56% | 44% |
Belfast | 56% | 44% |
Danny Buck, CEO and co-founder of CRAFTD, commented:
“We weren’t surprised to see the results come back as showing men with jewellery appearing more attractive than men without. Showing self expression and self-belief through what we wear shows confidence and that’s definitely an attractive trait. It’s interesting to see that Leeds is the jewellery-loving capital of the UK, but we can clearly see that all nine cities in the poll preferred men wearing jewellery to those without.”
The YouGov Survey
A YouGov and CRAFTD survey of over 4000 participants found that across the rest of Great Britain, 31% of those asked in the survey said that jewellery made a man appear more attractive than if he wore none. Just 9% of the 4000 people surveyed said they thought jewellery was a turnoff, with just 6% of women claiming it was a deal-breaker.
