How do I contact the Mayor of London? ›

The Mayor of London is Sadiq Khan who, along with the London Assembly, is accountable for the strategic government of London. You can email the Mayor at mayor@london.gov.uk. There are 25 members that make up the London Assembly, 11 of which are elected on a London-wide basis and 14 representing the local borough areas.

An international ambassador for the UK's financial and professional services sector, the Lord Mayor also heads the City of London Corporation, the governing body of the Square Mile. It is an annually elected role with each new Lord Mayor taking office in November.

City Hall has been the official home of the Greater London Authority since it was opened by the Queen in 2002 and occupies a prominent position on the south bank of the Thames.

In 2023, St Martins Property announced that the architectural firms of Gensler and LDA Design had completed a plan to redesign the unused structure as a mixed-use office and retail building. It was intended to replace the iconic spiral with leafy terraces and replace the glazing with different materials.

The Mayor of London cannot be removed from office by a referendum following a petition, as is the case for directly elected mayors elsewhere in England. The role should not be confused with the ancient position of Lord Mayor of London, elected annually by liverymen of the City of London.
