Besides locking columns and rows separately, Microsoft Excel lets you freeze both rows and columns at the same time. Here's how: Select a cell below the last row and to the right of the last column you'd like to freeze. On the View tab, click Freeze Panes > Freeze Panes.
To do this, go to the View ribbon, click on the Freeze Panes icon in the Window group, and choose either Freeze Top Row or Freeze First Column (you would have to do this one at a time if you wanted to freeze them both). Once you freeze the panes, you need to unfreeze them to either adjust them or add another pane.
To freeze both rows and columns in your Excel sheet, select the cell that is touching your last desired frozen row and last desired frozen column. Then go to view, select the Freeze Panes drop-down, and select the Freeze Panes option.
To freeze multiple rows or columns: Select the row below the last row or to the right of the last column you want frozen. On the View tab, select. Freeze Panes.
Select a cell to the right of the column you want to freeze.
The frozen columns will remain visible when you scroll through the worksheet. You can press Ctrl or Cmd as you click a cell to select more than one, or you can freeze each column individually.
With the “freeze panes” option, Excel freezes the rows and columns preceding the current active cell. The shortcut to freeze the row and column together is “Alt+W+F+F” (when pressed one by one).
Explanation: To make cell A1 the active cell, simply select it by clicking on it. Then, to freeze the rows above row 15, you would first need to select cell A15. After selecting cell A15, you would go to the View tab in the ribbon at the top of Excel, and click on Freeze Panes in the Window group.
