For albums, all official audio and video streams (SEA) from within the US are counted in addition to TEA and pure sales. 1500 streams = 10 track sales = 1 album sale. In addition, if an album shipped over 1 million copies to stores it can be certified Platinum without all 1 million of these copies being sold.
How does Apple Music Replay Count album play on Reddit? ›
Top songs are ranked by play count only. Top albums are ranked by play counts as well, where each track played on an album counts as a play. So if you listen to an album with 10 tracks three full times though, it will have 30 plays.

How are album charts calculated? ›
Under the revised methodology, the Official Charts Company takes the 12 most streamed tracks from one album, with the top-two songs being down-weighted in line with the average of the rest. The total of these streams is divided by 1000 and added to the pure sales of the album.
It's unclear exactly how accurate Apple Music Replay is. Apple Music lets users see the play counts of all their songs in the Apple Music desktop app and people have noticed that the play counts listed in the desktop app don't always match with the play counts listed in Apple Music Replay.
