In the United States 7th graders are 12-13 years old. They typially start 7th grade at 12 years old and leave 7th grade at 13 years old. Grade seven is part of “middle school” or “junior high” in the United States. Refer to the table below for grade level ages from Kindergarten to 12th grade in the United States.
If you prefer watching a video of me explaining how old seventh graders here it is:
Grade Level | Age |
---|---|
Kindergarten | 5-6 |
1st | 6-7 |
2nd | 7-8 |
3rd | 8-9 |
4th | 9-10 |
5th | 10-11 |
6th | 11-12 |
7th | 12-13 |
8th | 13-14 |
9th | 14-15 |
10th | 15-16 |
11th | 16-17 |
12th | 17-18 |
How do I know this? Well, I live in the United States and I have taught 7th grade before and I can confirm that they are either 12 or 13 years of age.
I (Allen) am currently teaching at a public school in a western suburb of Chicago. My teaching career started in 2004. Some of my interests outside of teaching is being with my family, biking, playing video games, travelling, and making the Teacher Adviser website.
