Score Reporting (2024)

Scores are determined based on the structure of the specific Praxis test. Selected-response answer sheets are scored by machine, a process which provides virtually 100% scoring accuracy.

• Each correct answer is worth one raw point.
• The total raw score is the number of questions answered correctly on the full test.
• The scaled score is computed from the total raw-point number to adjust for question difficulty.

Trained and supervised scorers who follow strict scoring procedures evaluate each constructed-response or essay response.

• Written responses to each question are read and scored by two or more qualified scorers who are trained to score responses.
• Scorers assign ratings based on a test-specific scale created by educators who are subject-area specialists.

Some tests may include pretest questions: one or more new questions being evaluated for possible use in future test editions.

• Pretest questions are not identified to assess how test-takers respond under actual testing conditions.
• Pretest questions do not count toward the score.

• ETS provides a Designated Institution Score Report to each institution or agency that the test-taker selects at registration. The report includes details such as the test-taker’s name, score, and pass/no pass score information.

Thisreport contains the following:

• test-taker's name
• test-taker's score(s)
• test-taker's passed/not passed score information for any recipients that the test-taker designates at registration
• test-taker's background information
• test-taker's educational information
• test-taker's detailed content-category performance

• A passing score is the score for a single test equal to or higher than the qualifying score the state or licensing agency sets. Passing scores are not set by ETS, and they vary by state. Find your state'spassing scores.
