Visualization Training & Advanced Roles
October 26, 2020
To guide employers, policymakers, and industry leaders in transforming the direct care workforce, PHI’s new framework for direct care job quality includes 29 elements across five pillars: quality training, fair compensation, quality supervision and support, respect and recognition, and real opportunity. The 5 Pillars of Direct Care Job Quality was co-created by a cross-departmental team of research, policy, and workforce interventions experts at PHI, and it will be updated as this sector evolves.
Key Takeaways
A high-quality direct care job should have quality training, fair compensation, quality supervision and support, respect and recognition, and real opportunity.
Quality Training ensures that all workers acquire the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in their complex roles.
Fair Compensation enables workers to achieve economic stability, safeguard their health, and plan for the future.
