What is my card security code? ›

Your card security code is the last three numbers printed on the signature strip on the back of your card. It's also known as CVV or CVC.

Visa and MasterCard

On some cards, all or part of the card number appears before the CSC, for example, 1234 567. In this example, 1234 are the last four digits of the credit card number, and 567 is the CSC.

One way to do this is to simply call up your credit card issuer and ask them for your CVV number. They will be able to look up your account information and give you the number. This is probably the easiest way to get your CVV number if you don't have your card with you.

If a thief obtains your card number, the card number alone will be useless without the CVV. This number is only used to confirm card-not-present purchases.

Where Do I Find the CVV? Finding your CVV depends on the type of card you have. For Visa, Mastercard and Discover cards, you'll find the three-digit code on the back, usually inside or just above the signature strip.
