Alabama doesn't have the lowest property taxes in America - that distinction goes to Hawaii - but our "Sweet Home" state is second-lowest. The Alabama county with the highest property taxes dings homeowners withan average bill of $1,400.But property owners in many of Alabama's 67 counties pay less. A lot less.

Geneva County is known in Alabama for its tomatoes, and it's also one of the Alabama counties where property taxes are lowest. Both Geneva and Hale counties share the No. 20 spot on the countdown with average annual property taxes of $371.
