Does a C count as passing?
In any major or minor course, learners must receive at least a C-minus. Too many D grades also raise red flags for many colleges.
One C in your transcript will not greatly impact your GPA and if it is a rare occurrence some colleges will just consider it a fluke. Colleges will probably look past it if that is the only class you've ever really struggled with as reflected per your grades.
Grades can be given in letters, percentages, points, or descriptions. Letter grades are the most common and typically correlate with a range of percentages or points. "A"s and "B"s get interpreted by many as “good” grades. "D"s and "F"s get labeled as “bad grades.” "C" is often considered average.
Remember, colleges may be a little less willing to forgive a “C” grade in one's junior or senior year. Colleges may see this as a sign that a student is not as “college-ready” as their peers. However, this does not mean that you'll be rejected since most colleges review applications holistically.
C - this is a grade that rests right in the middle. C is anywhere between 70% and 79% D - this is still a passing grade, and it's between 59% and 69% F - this is a failing grade.
In graduate programs, it's common for a C to be the lowest passing grade. Additional requirements may make it important for you to score above a D to maintain your academic standing, graduate, or qualify for scholarships and financial aid.
C = Average. This is the basic level that all professors expect of college students. When students turn in C-level work, they have answered all questions at the minimum level expected for competency in the course, but they have not pressed beyond that point.

So, if you have a semester of five classes where you earn three A's, one B, and one C, your total points will be 17. To determine your GPA from this number, per the formula, divide by the total classes you took, which is five in this case, and you get a GPA of 3.4.

More Definitions of Satisfactory grade
Satisfactory grade means a grade of c, or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, or better in each preservice program course. Satisfactory grade means a “C” in undergraduate studies, a “B” in graduate studies or a professional degree program, or “Pass” for courses designated as pass or fail.
