What is EBSCO used for? ›

The EBSCOhost interface provides access to a range of databases, e-journals and e- books. The databases are particularly useful for identifying journal articles and other publications on a particular topic within the subject areas covered by each database.

EBSCO provides free research databases covering a variety of subjects for students, researchers and librarians.

Go to the Request an Account page on EBSCO Connect. Click Find your Institution to locate the institution with which you are associated. Note: If you are unable to find your institution using this feature, check the box and enter the name of your institution manually. Select your role at your institution.

EBSCO indexes all journal content offered on JSTOR's platform including the Archival Journal Collections. However, JSTOR also has restrictions on what content they can publish (and consequently what can be included in EDS). JSTOR refers to this as a "Moving Wall" and is similar to what EBSCO calls an "embargo."

How do I read something from EBSCO? ›

eBooks can be read online in the eBook Viewer by clicking the eBook Full Text link on the Result List or Detailed Record. In the top toolbar of the eBook Viewer, you can click the Back to Results, New Search, or Exit links to check in the eBook after you have finished viewing it.

You don't need an EBSCO account to search and use EBSCO databases, but creating a free EBSCO account will let you save your search results so that you can access them later, organize your saved search results in folders, download ebooks, create alerts, etc. To create a free EBSCO account: 1) Go into any EBSCO database.
