KOCHI: It seems that the police are okay with the ‘Kiss Fest’ that is being organised at Marine Drive on Sunday even though it has kicked up a controversy. ‘Kiss Fest’ is the brain child of a group of youngsters who drummed up the idea on Facebook.Police officials said that kissing someone is not at all illegal and hence they don’t have any power to act against it. However, they would act if any untoward incident happens.
City police commissioner K G James said that the police will take necessary action if the public is discomforted as a result of the event. “We will take action if the event turns out to be a nuisance to the people as it is going to be held at a public place. However, we will also look into the more legal aspects of this and take action accordingly,” he said.
“It is too early to comment on the security details as there are six more days for the event. Since kissing is personal and legal, we won’t disrupt the event unless any law and order issue arises,” said R Nishanthini, DCP,Kochi.
