There are about 40 Haven holiday parks in the UK but we’ve picked 10 which we think are the best. We looked at various factors including hundreds of visitor reviews from different websites, as well as facilities and location.

In my view, Haven Holiday Parks are better than most of the big chains of caravan site, although the quality does vary. They aren’t always the cheapest, but they work out as good value if you fill up a caravan or if you can avoid the busiest weeks (see our other tips for saving money on Haven holidays). They are ideal for families who want plenty to do, but are generally less suited for romantic couples looking for silence. It's worth noting that you can choose whether or not to pay to use the facilities at a Haven holiday park. If you just want a base for exploring and might use the onsite restaurants, then I would go for a Haven Hideaway holiday. If you want to use the swimming pools, watch the entertainment and try out activities then you need to pick a standard Haven holiday(read our blog about Haven Hideawayif you're undecided). The grading system for Haven caravans was changed in 2021. Your options are now Saver (cheapest), Bronze, Silver, Gold and Signature (most expensive). Upgrading gets you things like sea views, wider caravans, towels provided, outside space and dishwashers. We've written a full comparison ofwhat you get for upgrading.

For our price comparison we looked at one week in August 2024 and have given awards for the cheapest in our top 10 and for the best value Haven holiday park in Britain.

1.Hopton Holiday Village– Norfolk

Hopton Holiday Village is one of the highest-rated Haven holiday parks in the whole country, with an average score of 4/5 on Trip Advisor and 4.5/5, Google Reviews or 4.4/5 on Hoseasons.

It’s a short drive to Great Yarmouth in Norfolk or Lowestoft in Suffolk so there are lots of family friendly attractions nearby.

Hoptonis right by a sandy beach and the park itself is well equipped with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, minigolf, tennis courts, fencing and a bowling green. A new 'entertainment arena' opened at Hopton in 2019 with a couple of restaurants as well as soft play.

The other Haven park in Norfolk worth considering is Wild Duck Holiday Park, which also gets rave reviews (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor). Both of them are dog friendly holiday parks.

Price comparison: £852for a family of four for a week in August 2024 (Saver caravan). That price was for a Friday arrival, it costs about £140 more for a Saturday arrival.

Our prices are based on standardHavenholidays, which means you can use the facilities. If you just want a base for exploring, you can save some money by picking the Haven Hideaway option when you book.

2. Hafan y MôrHoliday Park– North Wales

If you want a big and busy Haven caravan park in Wales, I would go forHafan y MôrHoliday Park, which had a big revamp in 2019.

It's got a whopping nine restaurants, nine play areas and a big swimming pool with a four lane waterslide. There's also an 'adventure village' called Dragon Lakes with things like high ropes courses, a boating lake and a sports court. Back-to-nature type activities include treasure hunts, den building, bug hunts and bushcraft. You have to pay extra for some things, but Haven activities are usually cheaper than Center Parcs.

Customers give it 4/5 on TripAdvisor whilst it scores a very impressive 4.4/5 on Google reviews.

You can walk down to a (mostly stony) beach and it's a dog friendly holiday park.

Price: £1027for a week in a'Saver caravan' for a family of four in August 2024.

An alternative isGreenacres Holiday Park, which is another Haven holiday park in North Wales with good reviews. It isn't quite as big,but it's well placed for exploring Snowdonia and it has a popular beach, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a ‘splash zone’, adventure golf and other sporty things. It was about £100 cheaper than Hafan y Môrfor the dates we checked in August 2024.

3.Perran Sands Caravan Holiday Park- Cornwall

Haven has got two holiday parks in Cornwall -Perran SandsandRiviere Sands-and to be honest, there’s not a great deal between them. They both get similar reviews (4 out of 5), they’re both by the seaside and they’ve both got indoor and outdoor swimming pools. They both have several places to eat and surf lessons, as well as various sports on site.

My advice for a Cornwall holiday is to think carefully about location. Cornwall’s roads are often slow and blocked by tractors so you are unlikely to be able to explore the whole county if you decide to stay in the remote (but very pretty) southern tip (Lizard Peninsula) or the northern end near the Devon border. A round trip from Bude to Lands End will take you more than four hours – my children get bored of car journeys after about 15 minutes.

For that reason, I’d pick Perran Sandswhich is fairly central to the county without being in touristy Newquay itself. You could just about visit any part of the county in a day (at a stretch) and you’ve got a load of family friendly attractions in Newquay, which is only a short drive away.

Riviere Sandsdoesn't allow dogs, so that might be the clincher for some people. However, Perran Sands is usually more expensive than Riviere Sands.

Price comparison: £1150for a family of four for a week in August 2024 in a Saver caravan. That price was for a Friday arrival. If you arrived a day later it added on another £200!

Haven Riviere Sands started from £969 for mid-August 2024, which is about £180 cheaper than Perran Sands.

4. Devon Cliffs Caravan Holiday Park– Devon

There’s only one Haven holiday park in Devon, but Devon Cliffs is a decent one (4/5 on Trip Advisor, 4.4/5 on Google Reviews, 4.4/5 on Hoseasons). It's also one of Haven's largest parks with more than 1200 caravans.

There's a good-sized indoor swimming pool with waterslides, as well as a couple of outdoor swimming pools, a high ropes course and a segway course (two wheeled balance thingys). It’s near to the descriptive Sandy Bay and you can do watersports on the beach.

Other activities include bowling, archery, minigolf, pottery painting and playgrounds (you pay extra for some activities).

The location is convenient, in that it is only a short drive from the M5 and is near to Exeter, Sidmouth and Seaton, which all have plenty of touristy things for a day out.

As you'd expect from Haven, there's a good range of accommodation, including caravans which are Saver, Bronze, Silver and Gold. They also have some Luxury Lodges. Read our guide to the Haven accommodation grading system to get an idea of what you are getting for your money.

5. Thornwick Bay Holiday Village– Yorkshire

**Winner: best value holiday park**

Thornwick Bay in East Yorkshire is one of Haven's newest holiday parks (it opened in 2016). It gets an average score of 4/5 on TripAdvisor, 4.5/5 on Google Reviews or 4.7/5 on Hoseasons.

It's got an indoor swimming pool which won an award when it opened. It doesn't have an outdoor pool (let's be honest though, Britain's weather is not ideal for outdoor swimming pools). There are loads of things to do onsite, including archery, fencing, painting and sand art. Some of the activities cost extra, but you can get bundles which make it a bit cheaper.

They also put on kite flying and birdwatching activities, although I can't imagine my six year old keeping quiet enough for the latter...

For a day trip, Bridlington is about 15 minutes away in the car whilst Scarborough is a 40 minute drive.

Price comparison: £673for a family of four in a Saver caravan for a week in August 2024. On this occasion, arriving on a Friday or Saturday was the same price.

6. Doniford Bay Holiday Park– Somerset

Doniford Bay gets marginally better reviews than Haven’s other Somerset holiday park at Burnham on Sea.TripAdvisor reviewers give both resorts 4/5 whilst Google Reviews puts Doniford Bay on 4.4/5 and Burnham on Sea Holiday Park on 4.3/5.

That puts both of them amongst the highest rated Haven parks at the time of writing (Lydstep Beach Holiday Parkin South Wales and Norfolk’s Wild Duck Holiday Parkare the highest rated with an average of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor).

Doniford Bay Holiday Park doesn't have as many activities as some Haven resorts, but it has got indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The outdoor pool was refurbished in 2017 and has a four lane waterslide. It's also got a zip wire and climbing wall, crazy golf, tennis, pottery painting, archery and a sports court. There are a couple of places to eat out.

As the name suggest, it is right on the beach. I'd say the beach is one for exploring and searching for shells rather than one for swimming and sandcastle building.

Doniford Bay is dog friendly, whereas Burnham on Sea Holiday Park doesn't allow pets.

Price comparison: £651for a week for a family of four in August 2024 in a Saver caravan.

7.Haven Rockley Park- Dorset

There are four Haven holiday parks fighting for attention in Dorset. They're all very good but there are some marginal differences.

Rockley Park,Littlesea Holiday Park,Seaview Holiday ParkandWeymouth Bay Caravan Holiday Parkget similar reviews and all have indoor swimming pools and entertainment. They’re all in the bucket-and-spade town of Weymouth, except forRockley Park, which is nearer to Bournemouth.

Weymouth has loads for families to do and it’s also centrally located for exploring West Dorset, which is lovely. It's the area around where Broadchurch was filmed.

Weymouth Bay Caravan Holiday Parkjust about edges it on the reviews (average of 4.4/5 on Google Reviews compared to 4.3/5 or 4.2/5 for the others).Seaviewis the Dorset holiday park with glamping options, such as safari tents for those who like the feel of a chill wind blowing up your trouser leg.

Personally, I prefer Bournemouth to Weymouth (or Wey-biza as we used to call it) so I've gone forRockley Park. The other advantage of Rockley Park is that it's right next to a beach, whereas the other three are a bit of a walk or a short drive.

Rockley has got three outdoor play areas, water sports, beach access, adventure golf, a climbing wall, a sports court and four places to eat and drink. There are alsolodgesif you want an upgrade.

Price comparison:£758for a week in a caravan for a family of four in August 2024.

Meanwhile, Seaview Holiday Park was from £748, Littlesea Holiday Park was from £938 and Weymouth Bay was the most expensive by far at £1101.

8. Lydstep Beach Holiday Park– South Wales

Lydstep Beach Holiday Parkis Haven’s best holiday park in Wales according to customers with average reviews of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.5/5 on Google reviews. However, you'll find it gets booked up quicker than most and it is much smaller than other Haven resorts in Wales, such asHafan y MôrHoliday Park(see number 2).

It’s got an indoor swimming pool, which is essential for dreary days. There is also kayaking on the nearby beach, a climbing wall, fencing and a few other things to do.

It’s right by the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which is a real bonus, unless your children are of an age where they will complain relentlessly about walking.

Lydstep Beachis a dog friendly holiday park (that is a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view!)

9. Haven Seton Sands Caravan Holiday Park– Scotland

Our only Scottish entry into this Haven top 10 holiday parks guide is Seton Sands, which is on the east coast, about half an hour from Edinburgh. It averages 4/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.3/5 on Google Reviews, which is above average for Haven parks.

It won our cheapest holiday park award for 2023 but it was mid-table for 2024.

There’s a 9 hole golf course at Seton Sands, whereasmost holiday parks just have crazy golf. There is also an indoor swimming pool, an adventure trail and other activities including fishing, golf, archery and soft play.

If you want to explore, it's a couple of hours to Scotland's main national parks, such as Loch Lomond or the Trossachs. On the plus side, it's very near to the beach on the East Lothian coast.

Price comparison: £831for a week in a saver caravan for a family of four in August 2024.

Also consider: If you want a Haven holiday park in Scotland on a much larger scale then I would go for Haven Craig Tara. It's much easier to reach from Glasgow, whereas Seton Sands is closer to Edinburgh. For the dates we checked in 2024, it was considerably cheaper at £582.

Many years ago, Craig Tara was a Butlins resort,so it is jam-packed with activities and things to do. The onsite swimming pool is more like a waterpark and had a big refurbishment in 2015. The resort also has five different outdoor playgrounds, six restaurants and things like zip wires and high ropes.

10. Haven Lakeland Leisure Park– The Lake District, Cumbria

**Winner: cheapest holiday park**

Haven’s only Cumbrian holiday park isn’t right in the heart of the Lake District, but it’s only a 20 minute drive to Windermere or half an hour to Coniston.

Reviews of Lakeland are solid at 4/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.2/5 on Google reviews. It’s certainly a decent base for exploring one of the nicest parts of England.

The park itself has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a 9 hole golf course and an ‘aerial adventure’ course as well as bowling, tennis courts and an adventure trail. Other activities include a football academy and pottery painting, though you do pay extra for some things.

It's got coastal walks near the park, but it doesn't really have a beach where you can go for a paddle.

Lakeland is often one of the best value Haven holiday parks in the UK. It was the third cheapest in our 2023 comparison and was the winner for 2024.

Price: £582for a week in a Saver caravan for a family of four in August 2024.
